Far Away

Scale: 1/4” = 1’-0”

In Caryl Churchill's play Far Away, compliance to evil reaps hopeless destruction, yet in Joan's view, ignorance to this corruption provides a haven of safety. Inspired by this I sought to create an environment that represented Joan's naive worldview, where a compliance to injustice keeps her secure. Throughout the show, we see this environment crack and crumble as she realizes the world's evil cannot be ignored. In the final act, Joan realizes she cannot reconcile her worldview with reality and is forced to open her eyes towards the horrors of the world, of which she is no small contributor.
