A theoretical design for the LA 2028 Olympic Cauldron

In reflecting on how mankind has overcome the ceaseless onslaught of both personal and communal tragedies time has thrown its way, it is impossible to ignore the endlessly inspiring resilience of the human spirit. In designing the Olympic cauldron, I wanted to celebrate that remarkable level of will power that allows any motivated person to overcome their obstacles and achieve their goals. To do this I've created an abstract mixed metal sculpture in the shape of a gymnast, who holds the iconic blaze of the eternal flame in the palm of her hand. Just as this monument rises out of nothing and grasps the everlasting testament of accomplishment, so too do we rise from the ashes to transcend possibility.
